Tobias Kappel is a Berlin-based artist whose practice explores processes of translation between different image forms and digital media. Working across photography, photocopiers, digital tools, and printing processes, his process-oriented approach often involves unconventional uses of technology. A recurring condition of being ‘in-between’ runs through his practice, informing questions around photography, painting, and perception. The resulting works resist fixed categorisation, occupying a genre-fluid space between photographic, painterly, and digital forms, where distinctions between image, medium, and process become increasingly unstable.
